What is an ear infection?
An ear infection occurs when bacteria or viruses cause inflammation in the ear. In children, ear infections are common and can affect different parts of the ear:
- Otitis Media (Middle Ear Infection): This happens when fluid builds up behind the eardrum, often following a cold or respiratory infection.
- Otitis Externa (Swimmer’s Ear): This affects the outer ear canal, usually due to trapped water, debris, or irritation.
