What are STIs?

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections passed through sexual contact. While commonly associated with adults, adolescents can also be at risk if sexually active.

What are the symptoms of an STI?

  • Pain, itching, or burning during urination.
  • Unusual discharge.
  • Sores, blisters, or rashes in the genital area.
  • Pelvic pain or discomfort.
  • Some STIs may have no symptoms.

How are STIs treated?

  • Bacterial Infections (Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis): Treated with antibiotics.
  • Viral Infections (HPV, Herpes, HIV): Managed with antiviral medications.
  • HPV Prevention: Vaccination available.
