Gillian qualified in 1994 from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh with a BSc Honours in Dietetics and is a registered Paediatric Dietitian, regulated by the Health and Care Professionals Council.
Gillian is a member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA), the paediatric specialist interest group and the neonatal interest group of the BDA. She is an experienced, friendly and approachable paediatric dietitian with more than 25 years in the field of paediatrics at Royal Free London NHS Trust working on Barnet Hospital children’s ward, neonatal unit and outpatient clinics at Barnet, Edgware and Chase Farm hospitals.
In 2023, she moved into a dietetic neonatal lead role at Barnet hospital’s level 2 neonatal unit and has helped to design national guidelines including neonatal referral and triaging guidelines, presenting this nationally to neonatal dietitians. She supports the neonatal occupational and speech and language therapists on the wards and at the preterm Little Stars weaning group and provides baby friendly initiative training to Barnet hospital’s neonatal staff.
When Gillian is not working, she support’s her neurodiverse teenage son who has autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder with his college assignments, exams, social activities and volunteering opportunities. Gillian is a keen cyclist and happy to cycle to the nearest coffee shop and loves any form of dancing including ceilidh, Bollywood and Greek dancing!
