Meet Dr Hemma Velani
Dr Velani is a highly experienced Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist with a dedicated career in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of children, adolescents, and their families.
Her practice is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and a strong commitment to high-quality, integrated care. Dr Velani earned her medical degree (MBBS) from Cardiff University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Neuroscience (BSc) from Bangor University.
She is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and completed her specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in North West London.
Her clinical expertise spans a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and developmental conditions, with particular interests in mood and anxiety disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and autism, and the interface between physical and mental health. She has specialist experience in crisis and risk management, as well as Paediatric Liaison Psychiatry – working within hospital settings to support young people with complex health needs.
Dr Velani is especially passionate about integrated, holistic care. She works closely with paediatricians, educators, and social care professionals to ensure young people receive coordinated, family-centred support. Her approach is trauma-informed and evidence-based, always placing the child and their family at the heart of the care process. Recognised for her calm and empathetic approach, Dr Velani builds strong therapeutic relationships with young people and empowers families to feel heard, supported, and involved throughout their journey of care.
